Honey Blonde Balayage made by Ryan Collins at Private Studio Hair Salon in Toronto's Fashion District

Lived-In Colour

Balayage, Made in Toronto.

Hand-painted to grow out beautifully.

The Technique

The art of hand-painted balayage

There's a reason balayage became the colour everyone asks for by name. It's painted by hand, placed exactly where the sun would find you, and designed to soften as it grows, so month three looks just as intentional as day one. Like your favourite pair of jeans, it only gets better the more you live in it.

At Private Studio, every stylist who paints balayage has spent years perfecting their hand, and each brings their own eye to it. Some lean bright and beachy, others soft and barely there. Bring a Pinterest board, a photo of yourself from last summer, or simply a feeling, and they'll translate it into colour that flatters your skin, works with your cut and fits the time you want to spend in the chair.

Every colour is painted in our open loft on Spadina, where natural light shows each ribbon of colour exactly as it is.
